digital design/time-based media

My D is just beginning to think about art school and/or a university with a good art/design program.

Her interest, currently, is time-based media--films/video/computer animation etc.

She likes the sound of the program at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design--anyone have any experience w/ that school? Or recommendations of others with good programs?

We likely will not qualify for need-based aid, but will have trouble paying more than $35k or so...the rest would be loans. Some of these schools are very pricey, I'm seeing--COA in the 50s...I don't want her/us to wind up with loans over $20k total...So also looking for suggestions of state schools or schools that might offer merit (she has very good grades, projecting above average but not top-top test scores, and an excellent portfolio).

Thanks for any thoughts!

Defintely consider Ringling and Laguna college of art.

If you want to consider a non-art school with a good Media Arts program with film/video/animation program on a beautiful campus with unbelievably friendly students and merit aid, check out Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. We first fell in love with the program, then visited and were absolutely hooked on the place.

7-Year old video, but shows the campus: [Ohio University - WeRU](http://www.ohio.edu/weru/video1/)

Media Arts Department in the Scripps School of Communications (contains one of the top 10 J-Schools in the country): [About the School | The School of Media Arts and Studies](http://www.tcomschool.ohiou.edu/undergraduate/about.html)

*Note: these are this year’s amounts; If she was an out of state student with even half-way decent stats (3.0 GPA/25+ ACT), she’d have gotten a $24,000 scholarship ($6Kx4yrs). COA is under $30K including OOS tuition, R&B, etc.

I think this place is a hidden gem.

Thanks for the ideas–especially the price-friendly OU idea…will definitely check them all out!
