Hi. I am currently a first year at a DIII school. I’m looking to move up to a DI school soon, whether it is next semester or next year to play soccer. However, as a transfer, I do not know where to start. I have started looking for schools but how can I be recruited? Not only am I looking to be recruited but I also am looking to get scholarships and any financial aid possible. Can I get some guidance in my journey, please!
I would ask here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/athletic-recruits/
Good luck!
Just trying to get a little more information so I know the whole story. As a high school senior, did you receive any interest from D1 schools? If so, why did you choose the current school? Also, do you have an issue with your current school academically, or is it just that you want to play soccer at a higher level?
It will be very difficult to move up to a D1 school so soon unless you have been a phenomenal player at the D3 level. Are you currently a starter, and if so, are you producing any results (not sure what position you play)? D1 soccer scholarships are extremely tough to get, so I would imagine most coaches would be recruiting those players who are coming from highly competitive club teams or those from community colleges who have been stand-out players. I think we really need more info before we can give any constructive feed-back.
The NCAA Guide to Transfer should answer most of your questions: http://www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/TGONLINE2013.pdf
Note that as a D3 athlete trying to transfer to a D1 school, you would have to receive written permission to contact a new coach from your current athletic director.
