I just ran in a meet, electronically timed…I didn’t do very well but my 200 time was 24.60…I don’t have an awards or anything in track so far though. what does it take to run DIII?

Well it depends if you are a guy or a girl. If you are a guy, 21.31-21.81 is fairly good. If you are a girl, 24.50-25.40 should be good. The following website should have more info:

DIII...not DI

Those are DIII times. At the 2004 championships the winning times for guys ranged between 21.39 and 22.39. For women, the times ranged from 24.25 to 25.32.

THe thing is, you don't need to be at the level of the winning times to be on a DIII team. Check out the profiles of the runners on the roster and see what their freshman year and high school senior times were.

Yeah im not looking to win a national championship...

do teams care much about awards, or just times?

The coach will care about times..not awards.

to be competitive at the D3 level in any meet, you are going to have to run a sub 23.0.

How's your 400m?

:)

There is a thread on www.dyestat.com under High School General about DI,DII,DIII which might answer some of your questions. Somebody said most DIII schools will take anyone on the team who is willing to work hard and take it seriously.

The only kid we've had go on to run DIII track in the past few years had a 22.9 200.

thanks everyone
