Dilema to the max, HELP ME

Its a decision between Jacobs University Bremen and studying in Australia ( Trinity college)
I finished my O'levels / SPM this year and am considering a foundation in Malaysia or Germany. If i join JUB i would join their foundation program, where as if i were to study in Australia i would study a year here, (AUSMAT) and head off to australia. I didnt want australia as i feel there are too many asians in australia and i would go there and only converse and mingle with them, which if i did i would rather just study in Malaysia, ( THIS IS MY POINT OF VIEW, DO NOT BE OFFENDED). I am thinking of studying engineering. (Chemical,Geotechnical)

Part of my already chose JUB, but i am currently having some doubts and hope if some of you can help me clearify them,
I come from Malaysia. Male , and chinese. First of all i would like to know how people from Germany (locals) treat international students? Rumour has it that they are very conservative and would not talk to you unless you are a German.
Further more, rumour has it that Germany is also a very dull place, and i wouldnt enjoy my university/college life there.

Coming to the university side,
if i were to study in australia , RMIT,Trinity,Melbourne U, they are more prestigious compared to JUB. Is this true? As some of my family mems/friends say that it is easier to get a job with a degree from a more prestigious univeristy. Furthermore, they my extended family has said that the weather/food in Germany is terrible and i would only get depressed there. To what extend is this true?

Anyone with experience of JUB could enlighten me with how is life in Germany as an international student and what obstacles do you experience being a student in Germany.

Sorry for ranting so much guys, just having a hard time deciding what is best for me at the moment :(

I don’t have direct experience, but I would choose Germany over Australia. I think it will be a richer experience to study in Europe. And the university seems ideal for international students. Germany is not DULL, so ignore anyone who tells you it is. German food is great and there is a lot of variety in modern Germany, so you can find all sorts of different cuisines. Get a good guidebook on Germany and educate yourself. And look here [Welcome to Bremen](http://www.bremen-tourism.de/)
Yes, it will be cold in the winter. So what? Don’t you want to experience something different? Isn’t that the whole point of NOT staying right where you are?

Any other opinions?

@Bean , thank you for your response, yes you are right about experiencing something different, and I agree with you, that’s why I am considering Germany, but am also still feeling a little doubtful :)

Do a SEARCH here on CC for “Bremen” and you will see some other discussions, they may have more first-hand experience advice. here are a few of them…

From Malaysia you can go to Australia on vacation ;-)

Do not go to Jacobs University. It is the worst university ever. I regret going there…

Do you speak German? Yes, locals will be a little hesitant to talk with you. They probably won’t if you don’t speak German.

Germany is a very cool place, and unless you despise snow, the weather isn’t depressing… but Bremen? Not the most exciting city in the world. If I were you I would be more worried about:

-there only being roughly 700 undergraduates at Jacobs
-The school is only about ten years old
-your academic opportunities will be limited by the previous two factors
-Employers will have no idea what the degree means in most cases because they will not really have heard from the school
-The likelihood of your being able to work in Germany or within the EU after college would be pretty low anyway
-Germany is really, really, really far away from Malaysia

I would go with the Australian university on this one.

Since the OP asked the question 2 years ago I think this thread is done.
