Dilemma: My Missing Application

Hi everyone, I need advice on what to do.

Here is my dilemma:

I recently contacted SMC about my I-20 (I am international student), and they told me that my application was not not completed by the July 1st deadline.

I was so sure that it was complete, so I asked them what was missing. They received the essay, international application, and other materials I had sent them, but nothing from my school (like transcripts, recommendations, etc).

According to my school and the post office, the package sent from my high school had arrived at SMC on June 17th.

The people at the International Student Center just can't find it.

The problem is that since SMC considers my application "incomplete" they have pushed it for Spring Admission... in February... I DO NOT under any circumstance want to wait around for 7 months.

I am also wondering why my officer did not send me an email telling me that my application was incomplete since it arrived a few weeks ahead of the deadline... They are telling me that it is too late for me to send in other copies of the transcripts to be considered for Fall semester...

I just can't believe the injustice of this since this didn't happen because I was negligent or irresponsible.

I'm just stunned...

Is there anything I can do to be admitted for fall semester?

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

If the files were received by the school and incorrectly filed or lost, that’s the school’s problem and you should definitely follow up on it. Fight hard for what should be yours.

If the school never received the files, you can’t necessarily blame the school. It would have been a good idea for you or your counselor to confirm the school’s receipt of your entire application. I would still be pretty upset and it’s worth fighting for, although you may have to end up biting the bullet.

Talk to your high school and show SMC the receipt that shows they received your transcript on June 17th. Its their screw up.

I sent them a link of the post office mail tracking system, and as it says that the package was received by the school, they said that they would look for it. Not sure what it means though…

I’m just hoping they’ll find it.
