Dilemma, need advice

I have been admitted to my state school, Rutgers New Brunswick. I have also been admitted to the University of San Francisco. I want to study Media Broadcasting but I am having trouble deciding where to enroll.

Rutgers has given me practically no financial aid, just work study and loans. USF has given me a pretty generous package. At this point, USF is the cheaper school for me. However, it is very far away from home and I have never visited the school. I have visited Rutgers though, and I loved it.
Should I go to Rutgers for about $2000 more a year or go to USF, a lower ranked school that I haven't seen? Which is a better descision?

Have you factored in transportation? Flying back and forth could easily eat up that $2,000 difference! As well as maybe having to store you stuff over the summers. Have you ever been away from home for any length of time? There won't be any coming home for the weekend!

Sammie,
Can you get a chance to visit USF before deciding?

Now is the time to make your pro/con comparison lists. They are very different schools in very different environments.
If USF comes out on top, go there to start. If you do not like it you can always go home. I am guessing that the USF generous FA package may not be there if you start at Rutgers and you want to transfer.

I wouldn't want to advise which school you should choose, but want to agree that the $2000 difference is highly likely to disappear once you factor in travel and storage costs.

It sounds like you prefer Rutgers, no? If so, don't worry about second-guessing your decision.

I do think there is some value in experiencing the "opposite" coast and culture but I wouldn't let that outweigh school preference.

I don't know how the curricula of these two schools stack up wrt Media Broadcasting, nor the job/internship opportunities. SF Bay Area is a big pond, but maybe wouldn't afford the same opportunities as the NY/NJ/Phila area?

Good luck with your choice.

I could have sworn I responded to this already...the above sentence says it all. You love Rutgers. That $2000 will easily be consumed in transportation costs to fly back and forth at the start and end of the school year, Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break.
