Dilemma - Need Honest Opinions

Applicant for Stern:

I took the SAT I's in October and am not sure how well I did. I find out my scores October 24th and the deadline to change tests that I registered for in November (SAT II's change to SAT I) is October 26th. Based on my SAT I score I'm going to decide whether to retake or take SAT II's. Here's the dilemma - I took Math 1c last summer and did poorly on it due to lack of studying - I'm afraid it will hurt my application if I don't take lets say either Math 1c or 2c and score 750+ and take USH and score high. Would an SAT I score below the middle 50% #'s and SAT II's that are high be better than SAT I in the higher range of 50% SAT I's and a below avg Math 1c score?

The other option! - change my Early Decision to Regular Decision and retake both SAT II's and SAT I? Does Early Decision really give you a better chance?

nyu doesnt really cares about SAT 2's, ive seen people with below 500's get in.

wait.....are you serious?? nyu doesnt care that much about SAT IIs??

well good SAT II's can certainly help you, but bad ones aren't going to ruin your whole application. i think it just makes you more competitive with all those stern applicants who score 700+ on math IC/2C.

US History SAT II is pretty easy, esp if you got an a in the class.

a good SAT I with avg SAT IIs are better than a low SAT I and good SAT IIs.. but of course good SAT I and good SAT IIs are the safest bet (esp when applying RD).

P.S. my counselor called an nyu admissions rep and they said if you are worried about your SAT score but think you can improve significantly, apply RD. if you don't think you can improve anymore on your SAT score, apply ED.

Thanks applicant - I'm applying ED since I know NYU is the school I want to go to...got that vibe when I visited. I'm going to study for SAT II's until October 24th and based on my scores I'll decide whether to retake SAT I or just go for SAT II's

Aww, thats great because I got an Awesome vibe too from NYU/Stern. I love that place soo much and I cant wait to go there, if I get in. crosses fingers

And just saying - good luck to you too!

Thanks akhila same to you...are you Indian?
