Dilemma

Hi. I just happened to stop by on this board. I'm having this dilemma and thought you might be able to help.

My choice is between Cornell and the U. of Miami. Cornell, I'm Hotel Management, Miami, Broadcast Journalism.

The thing is, I'm very comfortable with Miami. I've spent a lot of summers there and my aunt is a VP. I live in NJ, btw. So at Miami, I'd be a VIP with major connections. I'd know my way around and be really comfortable.

What would you do? Go somewhere where you know you'll be comfortable, but you're in a partying, Club UM atmosphere, or go to an "Ivy" that has a bit more prestige and more seriousness for learning?

It all depends on what you want to get out of college doesn't it? Sure, you'll have strings to pull at U of Miami, but what sort of opportunties are there available for you to take advantage of in comparison to Cornell? (I am not trying to diss Miami here!) Also, 100% of hotel students at Cornell graduate with at least one internship and the job offers they get after graduation is amazing.

If "being comfortable" and "having strings" are the only things that attracts you to Miami at present, then lemme pose a question: you're not going to stay in university forever, are you?

I say go with the tougher and more competitive environment if only because connections can only take you so far and "being comfortable" is only a matter of adjustment.
