Hello! I'm in a dilemma about my applications and wanna ask around for some opinions. Due to scholarship requirements, it is compulsory for me to be enrolled into a school by January 2009. However, Columbia is my dream school and i want to try applying (whatever the results might be!) Should i still apply for fall 2009 while i enroll into another school for spring, and withdraw immediately if i receive an acceptance? or is this considered unethical?

no, that's fine, ethically and legally and all that. The only part where it hurts is the money - having to pay for a school you won't attend (ideally).

i'm not doubting you (and thanks for the reply!) but i would just like to clarify. If i apply for ED and get in, yet still enroll into another school just to satisfy my scholarship requirements, they will be okay with it? I keep reading about double-depositing and whatnot and it got me really worried of ****ing any of the colleges off.

Apply RD and defer a semester (or a year?)

If you get in ED, wouldn't that be abusing the ED contract? Attending any other school will have your acceptance rescinded. Apply regular.

Actually, I might be wrong. But make sure you research that ASAP.
