Hey guys. I'm trying to transfer to nyu CAS but on their website it says that The most competitive applicants to the College of Arts and Science have taken all liberal arts courses at their current institution. Problem is, I'm currently a student in the business school within a 4 year university so therefore, i take business classes... not liberal arts courses... Does this make it almost impossible for me to transfer into CAS? i plan to tell them that i'm switching majors in my transfer essay but yeh...

If anyone can just provide some insight, that'd be great. thanks a lot guys

well i guess ideally you would have taken some liberal arts classes as electives, so if you can do that, i think that would help your case

i called them and they said it’s tough to say but they will put a lot of emphasis on my science, humanities, and math classes…but other than that, i really have nothing else that’s liberal arts…

when are you applying for? if it’s for fall, squeeze some more classes into your spring schedule and see if you can take any over the summer

yeh i’m applying for fall but i already registered for my spring semester classes. i’ll pretty much be taking an art/humanities class in addition to 3 business classes. The thing is, if i don’t get into nyu (it’s my only transfer school because it’s the only school i want to go to), i’ll probably stay at my current institution. and in order to stay on track, i’ll have to have taken those 3 business classes.

well, you still have the summer… and you can note on your application that you’re intending on completing some more liberal arts classes over the summer and i’m sure they’ll take that into consideration. if you want, call up and see if it’ll definitely make a difference because i guess there’s no point if they don’t okay it. good luck!
