Dilemma

I have a really big problem. OK there is a conflict in my schedule..I want to take both AP Spanish Lang and AP Calc..AB..but i'm not able to take both..therefore my counselor enrolled me in Calc. I was wondering if I really need to take calc if i plan on majoring in american gov, International Relations,PoliSci, or history?? I know a lot of ppl will say take calc because I will be rusty during my freshman and it might look kinda awkward since i have 3 yrs of math(alg1, geom, Pre-Calc(Honors) ) and 5 yrs of spanish(4 yrs in hs)..but i'm way better @ spanish and i think it would help me if i plan on taking International Relations. Any opinions would be great...i need to make a decision before the school year really kicks off. Oh and i plan to apply to UC/Privates(USC, northwestern..etc)...so that might be a factor as well. Ok any help would be GREATLY!!!! appreciated..thank you!

I say go for what you're interested in. Most schools only require 3 years of math anyway.

Take math, most colleges require 4 years. ;) Calculus I think is much more valuable, Spanish is, but 4 years is enough unless you want to major in it. If you want, and can handle it, why not self study it? Is it that much harder if you already have 4 years of it?

I would say do Spanish if you're more interested in it. I, honestly, don't see many colleges requiring four years of math, unless they're tech. schools. None of mine do at least, neither does my school require it for graduation. Really, if you want to do anything international, the language thing would look far better than an extra math because it shows you like studying language.

Go with your gut. I don't think it really matters, so go with what you like more. Personally I'd go with spanish, but that's just me.

Unless you're planning on studying math/science/engineering in college, I suggest you take Spanish instead. But based on the subjects you listed, you're not looking toward any of those subjects anyway.

Personally, I'd go with the Spanish. But that's just because I hate math.

Thanks for all the comments...haha i noticed that on the college admission forum they told me to go with calc and u guys are telling me to go with spanish...ahh well i'm already into like the 5th week of school so would it be too late to transfer into a spanish class anyway??
