Dilemmas even after I've been accepted.

My dilemma is pretty much the cost.

Here are a list of schools I have been accepted to and willing to go to (meaning that I won't list all of the ones I've simply been accepted to):

UMich
UTexas
UIllinois

All of them for the engineering schools.

If I remember the total prices, they are

37k
18k
28k

respectively.

I'm going to apply for aid but that is after I send my decisions to enroll (may 1). Will it be possible to go to UMich without aid, technically yes, practically no. I don't know what to do :(

In fact, I would prefer going to UTexas than UIllinois if Umich weren't an option since 10k a year is a lot.

Basically, I'm not sure if saving money at the present is worth making a possibly regrettable once in a lifetime decision.

i'm pretty much in the same deal as you...it's down to UW Madison and U Mich for me (I'm an out of stater). I've been thinking long and hard, talked to just about everyone, and I think it really comes down to your gut feeling. Where will you be happy, socially, academically and financially. I wish I could just say go to your dream school (i.e. w/ Mich)...but it's just not practical 'specially w/ the amount of loans u'd have to repay. But if you think it's worth it, go for it. I'm not sure how UTexas ranks compared to UMich, but I would assume that UMich leads in engin.
In any case, just remember that you can make the best out of wherever you go. It's YOU that can achieve success; the school is merely a vehicle. And don't forget...there's always graduate school

If finances are an issue, and in your case, they seem to be, go for UTA. Michigan is indeed slightly better than UTA, but it is not worth $80,000! You can pay for an MBA with $80,000. So I would say go for UTA.
