Dilemna; plz help

im so indecisive right now, I applied and was deferred from duke ed1. i would like to apply ed2 at emory to better my chances., I don't know what to do cuz duke is my first choice by far, but emory is 2nd by a large margin also and I don't know if i can get accepted to emory without the ed2 benefit. but let's just say i did apply ed2 to emory which i prob will do, if i was one of the 10% who got accepted later for duke and i was accepted emory, I would be committed to emory. what u think? thanks.

well i think youd get in to emory ed2...personally if you love duke so much, i wouldnt risk applying ed2 somewhere else. early decision is for first choice or if you were deferred, ed2 works for a second choice school only if its close behind your 1st choice.
while its difficult to get in after a deferral, i just think committing yourself to a different school is a bad idea. plus i think you have a shot at emory rd, your gpa/rank this yr may not be as high as a lot of applicatns but previous yrs looks good and ec's are great.

alrite thanks a lot man

How would you feel if you get rejected at Duke and Emory? Are there other schools that you would feel happy about attending? My feeling is, if the answer is no, you should just assume that you will not get into Duke and apply ed2 to Emory. Another suggestion would be to have your college counselor call Duke, to see really where you stand on the deferral list, if you are a strong candidate. Any benefit you can get by ed, you should take. Won't you feel bad if you do not get into Emory or Duke, then you'll be saying you should have applied ed2 to Emory when you had the chance.
