I got the email.

I didn't :(

And I got a likely letter, is this a cause for worry?

Eh, probably nothing to worry about.

Nothing to worry about. If you really want to attend, just contact the admissions office and they will set it up for you.

is anyone in the tristate area going on 1 of dartmouth's shuttle buses?

And for god's sake someone carry a handycam this time!

aznfishy,

Don't worry, you will not be a loss for people if you are taking one of people coming to Hanover on the tri-state bus. Also if you get the opportunity, attend the reception given by the local alumni group.

Im confused. I got the letter as well but what if I havent been accepted? Should I reserve a seat and then turn it down if I get rejected? Im so confused...

^^^ Dude, if you got the letter, you're already accepted. A likely letter and Dimensions invite means you've been accepted, bud...congrats! Don't worry about being rejected unless you like murder someone...or get some F's this semester.

aznfishy I'm from the tristate area and I might take the bus...then again my parents might want to drive up with me so I don't really know.

If my parents drive me up, they would have to stay at a hotel while I was hosted on campus right?

Yes, your parents would stay at a hotel while you were hosted on campus.

If your parents have never been to Hanover this would be a good chance for them to check out the school. IMHO, however, if they have been at Dartmouth and they really don't have any pressing business (FA or any special needs concerning you), it might be better if they let you take the bus, meet other prospies, you host and let you maneuver the campus for your self, since it will be you who is going to be attending.

emcau ,

Xmobile is correct and the big envelope will be coming your way. If you think that Dartmouth is on yoru short list of schools, make the reservation for Dimensions, check them out and see if Hanover is for you.

haha im glad i read this. i got the likely/invite and my dad was quick to book a flight. im still kind of nervy....i can imagine its going to be akward "ice-breakers" but hahah i guess thats gonna take place at any admitted students weekend.

Sybbie, a question. My parent has never seen Dartmouth, and he really is interested in coming to Dimensions. I noticed on the list of activities, there is one Parents' Program, but that's it. Will there be anything else for him to do, or just explore Hanover by himself for a couple days?

And what about the bus, is there a way to get a seat on the bus for a parent?

Kristina,

Are you coming from the Tri-state area? If yes, then only students can ride the bus. IF dad is going he must book his own transportation, lodging and meals. Other than the parent's program there is not going to be much for him to do. Should you decide to attend, he will have other opportunities to come to hanover when there are also other parents there; dropping you off for your DOC trip, Orientation, Freshman and sophomore family weekend, homecoming, winter carnival etc.

As a parent I know that it is a very exciting time for your family, but I also think that this is one of your first forays into adulthood as we are not going to be going to college with you (at least I hope). For us as parents it is a time of interdependence, giving you your space but also knowing we are here if you need us. All other things being equal, I think that it is your time to experience Dartmouth, and form your own opinion as to whether this is the place for you.

ecupirateluv,

Congrats,

Depending on your financial situation, I would contact the admissions office to confirm you attendance and to see if they will underwrite a portion of your flight.

Thanks for the information! No, I'm not from the tri-state area.

i know housing isnt provided, but are meals/transportation available for ED students or do we have to cover everything ourselves?

They will feed you once you get there and you will be able to participate in everything. However, you must make your provide your own transportation (no discounts or anything from admissions) and arrange your own hosting.

Hmmm............

I don't know if it's appropriate to ask and apologies if it isn't but does anybody here use instant messenging of any kind? I thought that it'd be kind of neat for those of us attending Dimensions to be able to get to know each other a little bit before next month.

sybbie719, i dont think i got anything about receptions hosted by local alums...=/

Don't worry it will probably come after April 1 once the official notifications go out (especially if you are in NYC).
