Okay people, I know the US dollar is weak against foreign currencies, e.g., British pound, Euro, Japanese Yen, but I think we can do better than existing on fish&chips while traveling in the UK! Last time I was in London we ate crepes and wonderful Italian food. My sister-in-law is from northern England and she makes Rachel Ray look like a bad cook. profmom2, sounds like you know what you're talking about!

I would agree with you and I don't even like fish. But, apparently this "Cod Dog" was something of a gray color and most went uneaten. The few brave souls who tried them concurred that they were about as good as they looked. And, apparently King hall has already said that they won't be serving these again. LOL
Go Navy.

What is going on at the Academy? My son is eating cereal or peanut butter and jelly every night. Morale is low and my son told me that they have no respect for the dant. Isn't she there for the midshipman? Something is not right. I had better food at bootcamp and all the ships that I served on. The place sounds like a private military school running out of funds. Do they want to shut it down? Vice Admiral wants it to be more like the fleet? I sincerely doubt that they would run the fleet like he's running the Academy. At least the fleet wasn't run like this when I served and I am retired.

^^^mdlrnc,
Isn't the commandant merely implementing the supe's plan? Have you read Admiral Fowler's position:

You realize, of course, that you are only contributing to the "hysterical lunacy" . . . at least so far as the USMA thread participants are concerned.

^^^Bill,
Why am I slightly offended when stupid people use the "hysterical" adjective to describe moms (and concerned dads) discussing a topic that affects the health and physical development of their offspring? It's a sexist expression...

COD?????
ick.

Didn't you guys get West Point's recipe for Turkey pot Pie???????

TURKEY POT PIE WITH FLAKY CRUST
1250 pounds turkey breast, cooked
200 pounds frozen peas
200 pounds frozen carrots, sliced
75 10lb cans white potatoes
25 10lb cans large pearl onions
450lbs fresh celery
140lbs margarine
150lbs flour
5 jars wine sherry
5 1lb jars chicken base
20 ounces poultry seasoning

Cut potatoes and celery. Cut turkey into pieces 3/4" square. Divide turkey into pots, cover with stock, and heat through. Drain stock and reserve for gravy. Cook vegetables separately. Drain pearl onions. Add potatoes and vegetables to turkey, divide sauce, heat, and season. Top with flaky crust.

(Serves 4000)

Go Army! Feed Navy! :)

And while you're at it, how about beating Air Force this year so the A-N game means something for a change...

Strike 2 on USNA69.....
apparently no one has "heard, seen or sniffed out" the whereabouts of the Class of 69!!! Go figure!!!!

welcome back navy2010!
I thought "Go Army! Feed Navy!" was pretty funny too! However, the most thought-provoking comment was:

"Does that mean we also want...link sausages, etc. off the menu?" -usna69

Could someone please explain what body-part "link sausages" resemble? (Stop laughing!) ;)

It is the huge gold and white tent with 6' tall blue USNA69 lettering on the roof and exactly where I told you it was. It is within 3' of the Class of '68 tent where you stopped to ask directions. The way '68 parks their cars, you probably walked through our tent to get to them. I am beginning to think you don't want to meet me.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Oh, just figured out why you didn't stop by. Our tent was filled with happy well adjusted and well fed 8th and 9th companies midshipman . You probably wouldn't have recognized them as being from USNA.

That is because all of us mm are sending food to the Mids and Your Tailgate was gracious and provided them food they could actually eat and enjoy while doing so. Mine is living week to week for tailgates and visiting parents to get decent food! Yes..well adjusted but malnourished!

Thanks for providing a good "meal" for those in companies 8 and 9.

Last year while marching over, some mom threw my son a burger which he thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately, that won't happen this year. He also reported to the Academy in pretty decent shape. He hasn't been in the gym as much, nor running as much, but has lost six pounds. If they just provide more fruit and veggies...they could stay a bit healthier. Hopefully, this new contract (contractor???) will make a difference. Let's hope so and then this thread can die.

ok usna69-
will try one more time!!!!

(apparently I was looking for a BLUE and gold tent.... not a WHITE and gold one!)

So.....
white and gold tent.....taylor avenue end..... blue side.... correct?????

LOL..... nah, probably 'cause you were sharing that merlot you owe me with the happy mids!!!!! And if they were indeed happy, no doubt it was because of the food you were all serving them!!!! My mid would have been doing cartwheels!!!!!! ;)

So we will try again...........homecoming game?????
white and gold, blue side, taylor ave, right next to 68th co.
