Would like comments from current students on the quality of dining hall meals and a recommendation for meal plan.

I have gone with 4 every semester so far. I usually don’t eat breakfast in the commons (most people don’t) and get lunch and dinner almost daily. We have two more weeks left of the semester and I have about 50 points left. I may have to add a few but not much. It is important to not overestimate points as you lose all of the them at the end of the year.

Thanks cwryan1.

So, if you are running short of points, you can add more. But if you have extra points left over - you lose them. Is that right?

Correct. Points (and lioncash) can easily be added online with a credit card. Points carry over between the fall and spring semesters. At the end of the spring they reset. You’ll see that come finals week people flock to the stores on campus to use the rest of their meal points to buy giftcards/non-persihables with their remaining meal points.

I recommend going with the smallest plan, then adding points. I don’t see any advantage to letting PSU have your money all semester and if you add points with your credit card you can earn rebate $ or airline miles with your credit card.

Does left over meal points get transferred over from summer into fall?

Your summer semester dining dollars carry over to the fall semester if you’ve purchased the plan for the fall.

I’ve had Meal Plan 1 for every semester so far

Some days I only eat 1 meal (buffet), but I make sure to fill myself up

I’ve gone with 4 for the past 2 years and will continue with it as it comes with the RA gig. I’ll breakfast in my room (not very many people go to the dining hall breakfast) and then grab a quick lunch and dinner every day. Sometimes I have to add some money but it has worked out.

Thank you for the response. I’m guessing my points won’t transfer over? I purchased it for this summer because I took two courses in the first summer session and I still have some points left over.

Points transfer over from summer to fall and from fall to spring, but any excess points at the end of spring just get deleted from the system. Most people just buy junk food from the convenience stores or ice cream from the creamery on their last day so they only have a few cents left on their meal plan in May.
