^Trust me, it’s to your own benefit. It will be more difficult to gain the freshman 15 when you don’t have an all-you-an-eat buffet for three meals per day.

That being said, it still happens so BE CAREFUL!!

^^ it’s also much more convenient when you are allowed to take food back with you to your dorm or wherever. if you just need something to eat quickly before your next class. with the all you can eat deal, you are basically restricted to the cafeteria with your food, right? this gives you a little more flexibility.

You should be happy that it isn’t all-you-can-eat. There was almost nobody I knew that got Freshmen 15 because everyone tried to ration their dining dollars so it could last the entire year. Though there are some people that bought more dining dollars and as a result got Freshmen 15.

At other colleges, because the dining halls are all-you-can-eat, the people usually go twice a day and just pig out on all their meals and everyone gets Freshmen 15.

just checking – if i get the $12 meal plan, and I run out of dining dollars, I can refill them right?
oh and whats the difference between dining dollars and triton cash?

I think dinning dollar u get 20% more dollar and triton cash u get 10% more dollar for each hundred. thats wat i remember when i read it somewhere.

^Okay, what???

Here’s the deal. You CAN refill dining dollars. Sometimes they do deals (I’m not sure if they do now) where if you refill $100, you get an extra $20. Triton Cash is also a good option because you automatically get 10% off at all the dining halls.

Dining dollars work at the dining halls (Cafe V, OVT, etc.) and the place/markets such as Goody’s, Roger’s, Earl’s, etc. You’re REQUIRED to purchase a certain amount when you live on campus. Triton Cash is for all students and can be used at the on campus restaurants such as Rubio’s and Subway, the bookstore, various off-campus locations, etc.

Kind of off topic but related, since we’re talking about meal dollars; When do incoming freshmen choose their meal plans anyway? During room assignment time?

^There’s only two options. You’re already assigned the minimum but you can choose to upgrade to the maximum.

When you find out when your roommates/suitemates are, there’s an option to upgrade your meal plan.
