Okay... There are three plans. Should I just go with the most expensive one because it has no limits? Are there microwaves in the dorms because then I would rather cook something like a lean pocket in the microwave instead of waking up early for breakfast. Also, can someone tell me which is the most commonly chosen option and why? Thanks.

Can you change your meal plan mid-semester?

i'm a huge eater, and i've found that the 14 meals/week plus $500 BRB's is more than enough. I usually dont get to all 14 per week.

i think you can change meal plans within 2 weeks of the start of the semester.

You won't be waking up for breakfast

Is there a quick way to have a breakfast? Is there a microwave in the dorms?

The dorms have microwaves, yes.

I've found that 14 a week is more than enough.

use your $500 brb's to buy a bagel or an egg sandwich and coffee or something.

so which is the best one to buy?

I'm currently on the 7 meals/week plan and I find it to be still too much. Maybe it's just because I'm sick of the dining halls, but I usually use the BRBs to purchase food at Nasties or some other a la carte place on campus.

The dining plan is only for meals in certain buildings. Take a look at the dining/residential map - if you are out on campus at lunchtime, you're pretty far from most of the dining plan halls. Trekking an extra 15 minutes in cold weather just to use your meal plan doesn't sound too appealing.

It would be wise to start with the fewest dining plan meals and increase the number if you feel it's necessary. Put the extra money in Big Red Bucks, which are good all over campus.

As others have said, 14 meals/wk + 500 BRBs is the best option. When I had this plan, I often had leftover meals.

I dont think you need more than 10

What if you think you're going to be going to Shabbos dinner every so often? I know the unlimited meal plan includes the shabbos meals, so would it be more worth it to get that one? Or more worth it just to pay for them (with big red bucks??) independently?

14 is definitely the best bet for your first semester, but most people I know dropped down to 10 for the second semester. Personally, I've always had 10 and only ran out once (and then just paid with my Big Red Bucks). The unlimited plan is ridiculous and a complete waste of money, in my opinion.

Not necessarily. There ARE people who eat three meals a day: a friend of mine ate three meals consistently (sometimes even four) last semester.

This semester, however, he's pledging; so he dropped down to 14 since he has mandatory frat dinners nightly.

But yeah, for the vast majority of students, it'd be a waste to get unlimited.
