Dinner Out Decisions

We don’t go out for dinner too much. Pre-pandemic, it was what we did to socialize with other couples. Now, we tend to host/attend at-home dinners or socialize around other activities besides eating (hiking, craft fairs…). When we do go out for dinner it is for one of two reasons: either it is to eat something we can’t/won’t make better at home (sushi and Indian food come to mind) or else just because we’re in the mood to enjoy a vibe (usually an outdoor place on the water).

As far as barometer dishes, my H always judges a restaurant on the quality of their French fries, as he feels this is the most basic thing that a place should know how to get right (read: crispy and perfectly golden brown).

We don’t go out to eat as much as pre-pandemic. We went out yesterday for Orthodox Easter with family to a very nice Mediterranean restaurant. If it is just the two of us, we tend to just get take-out as it is easier and more relaxing. With other couples, we often end up at someone’s home as it is easier to talk with more than 4 at the table.

Our NYC suburb now has a lot of good choices both in town and in the surrounding area. Indian or Thai are my favorites along with “regular” food (good fish or salads are always good). But open to many options. My DH often wants to “try somewhere new”. Love to eat outside too!
