Do you find out online if you are a direct admit to Kelley?

I just got accepted and it says I should receive my admit packet in 2-4 weeks, but wasn't sure whether or not I am a direct admit or not.

Do you find out online if you are a direct admit to Kelley?

I just got accepted and it says I should receive my admit packet in 2-4 weeks, but wasn't sure whether or not I am a direct admit or not.

It does say online, but I forget where (it was a year ago for me).

for me this year, it didn't.

i just got a mail about 2-3 weeks later from kelley school

This seems to be single most asked question on the Indiana University at Bloomington portion of college confidential.

The answer is that it's automatic--either you meet the criteria or you don't. The criterial can be found here:

where it says:

"Direct Freshman Admission

For Fall 2009, you will automatically be offered admission to Kelley prior to entering IU if you meet these criteria:

[You must be] Admitted to IU Bloomington and indicated business as your intended major

[You need to have a] ACT composite score of 29 or SAT composite of 1270 (including only math and critical reading sections)
[You need to be] Top 10 percent of high school class or 3.6 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)

Although you will be admitted to the Kelley School, you will retain IU’s “exploratory” option and can change your major once you come to campus."

Notice that it also gives you a chance if you meet one of the criteria, but not the other. In that case you can petition as stated on the same website:

"Petitioning for Direct Admission: After being admitted to IU, students who lack only one of the criterion may be eligible to petition for direct admission. Click here for more information.

Please note that only incoming freshmen who matriculate at Indiana University-Bloomington in the fall semester are eligible for direct admission. Students who matriculate in the spring semester are not eligible for direct admission."

As far as the GPA, the one they use is the one your school puts on the transcript. So, if they put the Unweighted GPA, they will use that, and if they put the weighted GPA, they will use that. Obviously, this means that students who come from schools were the weighted GPA is put on the transcript will have much better chances to be direct admit students than those where the unweighted GPA is used.

P.S. And as hkkxp indicated above, the Kelley Business School letter offering you direct admit status will come about 2-3 weeks after the Indiana University admissions letter if you are eligible. If you are not eligible, they will not send you anything to say that--you just won't get a letter from Kelley.
