I think that’s perfectly legit.

I went to Amazon and looked at the reviews. They seem to be from all types of people- students, parents, tutors. I am not sure why anyone feels it is important to review the reviewers, but I do know that the books can be very helpful on the critical reading section.

@nynyny too bad you didn’t look at the books more closely since there are 30-35 new words throughout each book. Many were not new numbered words but were included in the examples and index. One of the words, ignominy, was a word I had missed on the June 2010 SAT and it was a new word in 2011 edition.

All the people praising DH in this thread sound SO SUSPICIOUS. They sound so generic and…similar. Something’s not right.

^Try the books for yourself, then.

How do we sound similar? There’s no other way of saying that the book is good. It’s a good book. If you don’t wanna buy it I’m sure most people on CC couldn’t care less. I really don’t understand your skepticism considering it’s only 30 bucks.

@Dusterbug
Or perhaps you’re just too skeptical? As mentioned by suncoastfan, the reviews are from all types of people. What, you think this is a conspiracy and we’re all accomplices?

If only all the review book companies had people give them feedback before going to market with a new book.

I’m not talking about feedback from a disgruntled office worker that earns $15 bucks an hour and holds the title of “senior editor.” I’m not talking about some middle-aged office worker that doesn’t even know what the review book is talking about half the time. I don’t want a high-school dropout that scored a 900 on his or her SAT “editing” my review book.

No, we need some smart, educated people like the ones here on CC.

So many review books - even Crash Course - are pockmarked by spelling errors! Yes, I do mean Crash Course by Larry Krieger for AP Euro. Realpolitik is not spelled “Realpolitick,” Larry Krieger :).

http://i.min.us/ibXixo.JPG

More and more review book companies need to send CC users review copies for feedback. Seriously.

Maybe then the Princeton AP Bio book wouldn’t tell students that 32/100 = 33%.

Maybe then the Kaplan PSAT book wouldn’t say that two negatives added together makes a positive :p.

I heard it was really good…

Nice comment iceqube

is the newest edition the same price as the older editions?

Thank you! Now I know I’m not crazy :).

I will vouch for it.

I’m just wondering (I do feel silly for asking this lol >.<") how do you guys quote on this forum?

Thanxx =)

Hey BlackBunny - I made a graphic explaining how quote works just for you :):

oh…hey…uh…i gotta go

I just want to be clear, even though the 2011 and 2010 editions are basically the same, but they still cost the same, shouldnt you may as well buy the newer edition?

If your havent brought the older ones, yes.

Is the only way to purchase these books through amazon? Can I purchase them from a local bookstore (i.e. Barnes and Noble)

You can buy them on the stores website but I could not find it in the Barnes and Noble by me. Idk if that’s normal or if mine just doesn’t carry it.

Is DirectHits available at Borders? Because I’m going to tutor kids for the SAT and charge a lot so i need to be able to produce results.

Also, how much does it cost?
