My daughter will likely need to take advantage of direct loans each year. In looking at our financial aid package, it looks like the subsidized and unsubsidized loans are disbursed each semester. So is that like four separate loans per year or are they more organized than that? It seems like an awful lot to keep track of if they are all separate.
There is a National Student Loan Database your daughter can utilize to keep track of her funds. It does take some time to update once the loans have officially disbursed, but it breaks down the loan history by date of disbursement and loan type. She can then identify who her individual loan servicer is and keep track/make payments on the loan as well should she choose. The database is nslds.ed.gov.
Once she logs in to the servicer website, (assuming the loans are all with the same servicer…hopefully it should be) it is really easy to manage the loans at that point.
Thanks. I hope that will simplify things.
The website give the exact date of disbursement, so it is pretty easy to identify the loans by school semesters/years.
