How are interviews for accelerated med programs? Obviously they are very important. I have already had a few normal college interviews. Those are very relaxed; basically just a conversation. But I have no clue what to expect in these interviews for direct med? Do they ask specific hard questions? Any advice/insight would be appreciated.

well I've already gone to one for temple.

It was very intense to be honest.
They put 6 students and 4 interviewers in a room. They gave us a hypothetical case involving euthanasia, and we had to decide a victim's fate. The interviewers always played devil's advocate to see how strongly you felt about your opinion. There wasn't a right or wrong answer. You had to learn to compromise and work together with the other 5 people in your group (who were meant to represent an ethics committee) and make one overall decision.

wow that is intense...so the direct med interviews are going to be like the actual scary med school interviews...hmmm

Umm mine was totally relaxed. We talked about cultures...

VCU's interviews are really relaxed and they're like conversations. You have two interviews, one with the honors college and one with the medical college. The people from the medical college are reallly chill, especially mine. I could joke around with her and everything.

evil dude u gotta be kidin me that wasnt intense man ...it was pretty cool...u just hadta be sure what you were saying and believe in it

guitars_girls, I thought it was intense. Primarily because I talked the most and was challenged repeatedly by the interviewers. Luckily I held my opinion well enough to be invited for the second interview.

the temple setup seems so odd

4 interviewers and 6 applicants, how is anybody supposed to get a fair shot, also I doubt any applicant in the room had taken a full Medical Ethics course and could actually argue certain ethical principles that justified or went against euthanasia

most direct med interviews I've been too (3 and counting) have been very relaxed, I have had 2 1 one 1 and one with a committee of three, the 3-person committee was tougher since each person had time to formulate tough questions while you were answering the other persons', whereas a one-on-one interview you could follow the train of thought and easily approach each question.

yeahhh....the three that i've been to were 1 on 1 and relatively stress free.....my penn state interviewer kept making jokes and talking about her kids and how harvard is a nice school
