I'm interested in a schools direct medical program. I have no experience in healthy care unless you consider being a red cross blood services volunteer. My GPA Sat and other stuff are pretty good how bad will not volunteering at a hospital have on my application. I considered doing it before but the only hospitals near my home would have me doing mindless clerical work, will explaining this allow the admissions offices to be more understanding ?

Thanks

I also participated in a radiology conference. And am taking courses in my school relating the medical field like human anatomy.

If you have other extracurriculars, such as the radiology conference that you mentioned, that compensate for not volunteering, it shouldn’t be that bad. If your local hospitals aren’t so great for volunteering, maybe you could ask a local doctor or medical office if they have any volunteering opportunities. Usually small clinics will have more important volunteering needs compared to large hospitals that are already filled with enough volunteers.

Any more thoughts on this matter people?
