Direct to engineering admission - 2018

My D an international applicant got acceptance to UW Seatle DA to engineering. I have couple of questions…

  1. How safe is seatle?
  2. How is the weather, i hear mixed feedback about it.
  3. she would be interested in Bio or Chem engieering, how sure we get into these specific major.
  4. How small or big the classes would be.
  5. We are completely new to US education system and hence how well will she be able to adopt to the new system?
  6. Any stats on- on campus job offers for engineering undergrad?
  7. How recognised is UW engineering program ( i read Bioengineering is ranked high)
  8. If she wants to purse Masters, how UW engineering degree considered by other uniersities like JHU / UPenn etc..

2: I've lived in Seattle my whole life, and I like it here. It rains a lot (especially in the winter), but when it's sunny the weather is awesome

4: You can take a look at the class sizes in the time schedule: https://www.washington.edu/students/timeschd/

Thanks @stockfish101 for your response.

any current UW engineering students who can give more inputs pls

The direct-to-college engineering admissions system is brand new this year. The intent of the system is to reduce the level of uncertainty involved in getting into an engineering major, but there is no track record yet as to how well it will work.

UW is a highly respected engineering school across all majors.

Thanks @aroundhere, we get to read so much on desired major not being allocated at UW which is concerning. My D might take up chem or Bioengineering, she wont be interested in anything else and so not sure if i can take that kind of risk in admitting her with out assurance of a department.
