step outside the terminal and you should find a sign that says something along the lines of "silver line stop." Wait there to pick up the silver line bus ($1.25 fare) and that will take you to the red line south station. From south station you'll take a train inbound towards Alewife and you'll get to a stop called Harvard Square after 6 stops.

Total time - about 30 min-1 hr depending on traffic and how long to catch the train.

I couldn't have explained it better.

lol when i went i just explored on my own. i took the red line subway to harvard. subways are cool in boston but they are nothing like NYC's.

Oh and heres my advice. dont touch the John Harvard statue's foot. I did and i regret it. (Frat boys get drunk and urinate on it quite frequently)

i believe the station is called "harvard" not "harvard square"

(only as long as we're being as specific as possible :) )

yeah and mit is Kendall/Mit

I love the T in Boston. I can get from my house (I live on the Northshore) to Harvard in about 40 minutes if I drive to Revere and catch the train at Wonderland or Beachmont.

PS Harvard doesn't have "frat boys," as Shark_bite refers.

Yeah, but MIT frat boys have been known to pee on it too.

Harvard doesn't have any frats that are recognized by Harvard, but it has frats that are recognized by the fratenities' parent organizations, which is good enough for me. Sigma Chi, Phi Iota Alpha, and maybe some other frats--I can't keep track--have chapters at Harvard. However, in my limited experience, the type of rowdy behavior that many people associate with fraternities is generally associated with certain final clubs at Harvard and not with the fraternities. (Of course, the Spee, A.D., Delphic, and Fly started out as fraternities, which complicates things a little bit.)

Nope, the station is called Harvard Square. (Unless they renamed during the few months since I was there.)

I can't believe we're arguing about this, but anyway, the full name of the station is "Harvard Square Station":
http://www.mbta.com/traveling_t/schedules_subway_stationinfo.asp?staname=Harvard%20Square
However, the name posted inside the station and used to identify the station on route maps is "Harvard":
http://www.mbta.com/traveling_t/schedules_subway_redline.asp

Furthermore, the LED display inside the subway cars show "Harvard Square" when approaching said station.

i stand corrected.

dualityim: No, it doesn't. However, the computerized announcement says 'Harvard Square.' In the end, Harvard's stop is Harvard. That is all.
