Directory of Theatre Training Programs: Profiles of College and Conservatory Programs Throughout the United States, 11th Ed, 2007-2009, Tumielewicz/Lyons (Author, Editor)

I just ordered this book as another way for my S to sift through the various college options for him. Wish it was even more current, but I'm guessing there is not tons of info that changes in terms of the basics, i.e.., do they offer a theatre program or not & the details will then be on the website & the inside scoop will be on CC! Hope it is what I was looking for! Could only find used & it wasn't cheap!

I saw a reference to The Directory of Theatre Training Programs in an older posting on CC when my S was applying to acting programs a few years ago. We ordered it and found it to be useful, although it is only published every few years and so info on the school’s website most likely will be more up-to-date. It is an interesting publication from the perspective that it provides info on the number of FT and PT facultyat each program and how the faculty are allocated per course; noted faculty and guest artists; the types of performance venues and the number of seats in those venues; and the approximate budget allocated to performances in those venues (if available). It is also a useful publication because you can see in one place descriptions of the various US acting programs rather than having to plow through each program’s website. The website for the publication is www.theatredirectories.com They also publish a directory of summer theatre programs. When we purchased the 2007-2009 Directory of Theatre Training Programs, I believe we ordered it directly from their website (although I seem to recall trying to order it through Amazon) and it was around $40 plus shipping for a new copy.
