Disability services for ADHD at your college

My D is an incoming college sophmore and has ADHD. She was diagnosed in HS and did some behavior modification (no medication) and did reasonably well. She really struggled this past semester in college and found it very hard to sustain her focus in challenging classes and in trying to study. She began taking adderall this summer which she finds is helping and did receive an official diagnosis so that she can take advantage of disability services when she returns to school. I have concerns that a large state university may not be the right fit - but she is happy there socially and likes the school so I am willing to go along provided she does get the help she needs to do well. It is my understanding she will be able to work with a support person to help her manage her study schedule and also be given a longer time for testing and possibly a quiet test area. What services are available at your school and have you found them helpful, etc? Thanks!

PLEASE check out Peterson’s guide to “Colleges with programs for students with learning disabilities and/or attention deficit disorders.” It will provide analysis of hundreds of programs.

Personally, I recommend Fairleigh Dickenson and Adelphi Univeristy. They both provide tutoring, extra time for exams, note takers if needed, and other accomodations.
