Disadvantages of large schools

Lots of big schools have some departments/majors that are very small. For instance if you are interested in music at a school best known for engineering, you might find the music department to be a just as much of a small nurturing environment as you might find at a much smaller school.

Or you could have an "unusual" major at a large school that creates a smaller environment. A good friend of mine is in "Biomedical Illustration"--12 students in the major freshman through senior. Mainly Biology and Art classes...sounds cool and would seem cooler if I had any artistic ability. But that's off topic...bottom line, every school has some majors (such as Music) that may be small at that school but huge at another. Depends on the school.
