disadvantages of spring admissions?

Forgive me for being err, stupid, but what are the disadvantages of applying for the spring courses? It seems as if it would be beneficial, seeing that less people apply in the spring the advantages would be:

-a greater chance of being accepted
-less competition

you will have to spend a lot of time making up the classes that you missed first semester which is extra hard because a lot of the required ones are only offered first semester so then you'll have to take them sophmore year when you are supposed to be taking more required classes...it goes on and on

Actualy - if accepted for spring admission - you would still be a freshman that next fall - until you complete the number of credits that qualify you as a sophmore. Most of the lower level courses are offered both semesters - tho some are not - so check that out - especially the sciences that may require 2 full semesters pending the major you are considering and the school also. (One option to consider would be to attend summer sessions to get up to snuf - if you needed to.)

Advantage to spring admission - there are actually alot of schools that would like to know that you would consider acceptance for spring semester - if they cannot offer you admission for the fall - tho there are some schools that do not take any new students in the spring - so make sure the school you are considering does have spring acceptance.

Another advantage - alot of students transfer in the spring or just don't come back - so alot of slots can open up for applicants. Not such a bad idea if it an option you may want to consider. But just make sure the school offers this option.

any way you say it you'll need to take extra time to take the courses you missed also you wont be as connected to your class. If you really want to go to this school over all others then yes take spring admission but you really do have to think about it. I was in this position only a little while ago (admitted for spring) and it was a very hard decision, just don't think its all going to be perfect.
