Disappointed no scholarship was offered

For my son, Bentley is his third choice behind Boston College and Villanova, but we have heard they don’t offer great aid so we are not very optimistic. He has already been accepted to Villanova and is waiting on BC’s decision in March. He is very happy to be accepted to Bentley but very disappointed he wasn’t offered a scholarship. He was hoping for at least a half scholarship from Bentley because he has already been offered a full tuition scholarship from Providence College. Therefore, Bentley will have to meet full demonstrated need to order to complete with PC.

Does anyone here have thoughts on Bentley v PC? Is PC’s business program comparable to Bentley’s?

I think they’re all great schools. As for PC vs Bentley in business? IMHO, I’d say Bentley is definitely the better school. But throw Villanova into the mix and Villanova would surpass both of them. I can’t comment on BC as I realistically knew it was too big a reach to bother having my sons apply and didn’t look into it much. We looked at, and loved, all three of the others. I have a nephew who is a freshman at Bentley and absolutely loves it. We eliminated Bentley, though, because we were worried about either son deciding to change their minds on a business degree and didn’t think coming out of there with the Liberal Arts degree was a good option. Villanova and Providence are still on the radar for S2 but S1 went somewhere else completely different and is very happy. I honestly don’t think you could go wrong with a degree from any of them. They’re all expensive schools, though, so merit aid should definitely factor into the decision making process.

My son was accepted as well - no scholarship listed on acceptance page. Have you confirmed that he will not be receiving a Merit award in his acceptance letter? I actually left a message with the office just to find out for sure either way (or if it may be worth pursuing with perhaps an increased SAT score or other info). I figure what’s the harm in asking if he has been accepted?
