Disciplinary Essay Question Advice

First if ur lookin at this, thanks for tryin to help me out at least. I go to catholic school in New York and got suspeneded for a coupple of days on 4/20. being the ididot that i am, i decided to drive this girl to school. Without bringing it up to me she starts smoking in my car. Now your all random people and i have no reason to lie when i say tht i didnt smoke. regardeless she got cought, and ratted me out and i got in trouble by association.
In catholic school u have no right and i was told that i either confess to smoking or get expelled, so i confessed.

Now Im not wining about the situation or asking weather or not to write the essay but my questions are these...

Under the Common App Disciplinary Question i gotta explain myself, so should I tell the less believeable truth and take responcablility for neglegence, or should i lie and condemn myself?

AND

-Does anyone have any clue how long this should be?

I know this isnt easy so thanks in advance for atempting to help

In the end - the truth is the better way to go. I wouldn’t sweat it though.

Does anyone know what happens if you have a disciplinary mark on your high school record? Do most schools shut you out for that, or are they open to hearing what happened and how you learned from it?

First, talk to your guidance office and ask exactly what your record will show as it goes to universities. It is imperative that you say the same thing. Second, take the time to ask, and genuinely listen, to what they feel the better course of action would have been. Stop the car and drop her off? Go to security immediately and disclose the incident yourself?

From this you may have a better idea of how to phrase your response…give the facts as they happened followed by "I now understand that although I was not guilty of X, the better course of action would have been to XYZ. I learned a valuable lesson I will not repeat’. This shows you are not simply being defiant in proclaiming your innocence, but you worked with the school to find out what you could have done better. The difference shows your attitude towards responsibility.

How long should it be? Long enough to concisely explain what happened. Not so long as to become a major focus of your application. Be remorseful and move on.

Yea thanks a lot guys… I managed to write a good enough essay to worry the school in regards to it’s immage and disciplinaty execution. Agreed to dismiss the blemish from my record.
Thanks I appreciate it

Yeahhh!!! Threaten them with exposure. Is that the same as extortion? :)
