On the part where it asks if you have ever been suspended from an educational institution...does that include summer programs? For example, say you were suspended from a high school summer session at Stanford.

I don’t think you have to mention that but I’d double check with a college counselor just in case.

Yes. It sounds like you DO need to mention it. If this occurred in 9th grade or onwards, then absolutely you need to mention it. This is the prompt from the common app:

Have you ever been found responsible for any disciplinary violation at an educational institution you have attended from the 9th grade forward (or the international equivalent), whether related to academic misconduct or behavioral misconduct, that resulted in your probation, suspension, removal, dismissal, or expulsion from the institution?

Stanford is clearly an “educational institution.” And you stated you were suspended. So if this occurred when you were a 9th grader or later, then absolutely you need to mention it. To me, there’s no question.

Hey, if I have been “suspended” in my school because the teachers made me sit outside the classroom to attend classes for 3 days, do I have to include that in my history?
