I’m currently a sophomore in high school and my heart is racing in anxiety. I was recently caught giving homework to two other girls and it was put on my disciplinary records. I didn’t get in too much trouble, i just had to make my parents sign something and had to attend 3 detentions. But I am freaking out because will this prevent me from getting into a college? :(( I will never ever ever ever ever do it again. I’ve learned from this so much. Please answer for the sake of my sanity. Thank you :))
Better now to get caught than when you’re a Senior. There was this huge cheating ring in the Physics department at my school and it ended with two of the Seniors getting their acceptances to Stanford rescinded. My AP World teacher actually said he caught them cheating when they were Sophomores, but chose to forget that when he wrote their recommendations. I hope you can prove the “once a cheater always a cheater” (I know that saying is for relationships, but it seemed to fit here) mentality wrong and try to put this behind you. Your school treated it as a minor incident, so this might be a chance for you to show how you have matured during your academic career. Try not to get in trouble again because it will appear to admissions officers that you are prone to cheating. I’m not saying that this incident won’t hurt you, but colleges are generally more lenient with Freshman and Sophomore behavior/grades.
Come on. 3 Detentions? I’ve had much worse, no this will not do anything. Colleges likely will not even see your detentions.
