Disciplinary Referral

I got a discplinary referral back wen i was in 9th grade...will this really hurt my chances of getting into a good college like emory or hopkins?

did you get suspended or expelled? if it was just detention or something, it doesnt matter, but if it was serious, it could hurt you.

it was for plagiarizing back in 9th grade

so what happened to you?

umm i was given a zero for the incident and a referral...and now im freakin out that colleges might not accept me for an incident i did 4 years ago..

sorry but what is a referral? at my school we have one hour detentions, three hour detentions, in school suspensions, out of school suspensions, and expulsion.

Same at my school but a 2 hour detention. If you didn't get suspended or expelled don't worry. If you did...worry. Also, plagarizing is one of the worst things a college can find out you did, it's almost as bad as a violent crime to them.

yeah. if you did end up getting suspended or whatever, its a plus that this happened in your freshman year. and hopefully you have had a clean record since then.

It will only be on your record if you had to take time out from school (suspension, expulsion). If you were than think about it like this. There are so many qualified applicants, why would they take one kid who was suspended over another kid that was not with comparable stats.
