Student's SAT scores were quite varied -- very high in one area and very low in another. Student has a learning disability and this impacted student's testing. Would it be advised to provide colleges with some information about this in the admissions process (even if through a personal letter) to help explain this or is it better left not addressed at this point? Thanks for any guidance.

I don’t know. It kind of seems like if a learning disability affected their testing so much…did they have accommodations or try to get them? perhaps the best thing to do would be to retake with accommodations like more time, etc.

It’s past the point for retesting. Now the issue is whether the student should share this information to help explain why one component of the SAT was so low.

This is a good question to take to the Parents Forum or the LD Forum. To reach the LD forum, click on “Discussion Home” in the upper left of this screen and scroll down. It is less active than the Parents Form, but the advice is more specific.

Thanks happymomof 1 – went to “Discussion Home” and scrolled down yet only found something related to LD in the “pre-college” area. Could you tell me where the same area for college is located?
