I plan on applying to Cal and UCLA, plus a couple more UC's in the Fall of this year. I was wondering if should disclose my ADHD condition in the application? It has been a condition that affected my entire education, mostly negatively but recently I have totally transformed my transcripts from C's, F's and D's to A's and B's after becoming pro active in my treatment for this condition. I was on dismissal from community college (how pathetic is that??) my GPA was like 1.6 but is currently 3.5. I don't want the condition to be used against me in the application process and don't want to use it as a crutch to explain my past academic underachievement. What is the best thing to do?? To not disclose or to disclose?? Any opinions??

iono, i started off my personal statement about my tourettes. I mentioned that it interested me in the science field and later going on saying that I was able to control it after years of extensive treatment and medications.

Did you get accepted and where?

dont know. i applied for fall 08.

Since most medical conditions will have an effect on your education it is a great idea to include them in the application and personal statement. The explanation of how the condition has had affected your education can help answer questions the evaluator may have. There are only few things that will ever have a negative impact on the application and medical conditions are not one of these.
