<p>Just finished my PFS and it suggests that I can afford to contribute $34k towards tuition. Do the schools really use that number, the mist I feel I can contribute is $10k</p>
<p>How did you find that number? My mother didn’t get one. It all depends though. For the FAFSA (college financial aid), it gave my mother a number she couldn’t pay. If a school really wants your child, they will offer. Btw schools like Exeter & Andover tend to look at the amount YOU think you can contribute as well.</p>
<p>There is a report to download once you submit the PFS that has the amount on it.</p>
<p>Offers can vary, but it’s unlikely that a school’s award would vary that drastically from the EFC. Did you check the FA calculator on the school’s website? In my experience, they’ll give you an accurate range.</p>
