I thought internships meant being paid…not paying. Is the cost of Discovery Internships for housing and food?
Using google I found some of the companies/universities through which Discovery Internships has affiliations can be applied to by anyone.

I thought that Chaseholl and Professor0 had very legitimate, pertinent questions, and the representative of summer discovery’s response with “CAPITALS”, and the defensiveness in the response over chaseholls comment of “the only good summer programs are those that are free.” DiscoveryInterns response: “That’s quite an unusual statement and warrants qualification. Can you please provide a few examples.” I’m certain that now that DiscoveryInterns is promoting their program on this website/blog, she/he will obviously say that she/he didn’t mean to come across in this way. First impressions are important, and if you need to defend your program in that manner, the notches on the “professional company” meter just went down in my book. I just received a mailer, and like Chaseholl and Professor0 was curious about what people were saying, and oddly, I can’t find ANYTHING other than promo/commercials of the company. Because DiscoverInterns said that the company has been around for 46 years I thought that maybe it was a creditable company. I couldn’t find them in the better business bureau, nor SBA.gov, so I called Summer Discovery to ask them. Apparently the only way to come up in BBB is by having the business apply for accreditation or if they receive a complaint–for some reason, they have never applied. The good part is that there are no bad claims. All I found out was that James’ and Robert’s dad founded this company and now they’re in charge. But still, no reviews under the previous company that dedicated itself to tours (“Musiker Tours”), nor under any of the present. On this blog there are 2 negative and 2 positive comments. Tough call because it is a lot of money to throw into this program without knowing more about the company and what students accomplish/have accomplished, how they’ve benefitted by taking their courses and how/why this program would be better than others? All I have is a very nice mailer.
I agree with iceui2 about the issue. The cost is steep.
