Hi everyone. So I'm trying to pay my bill since it's due tomorrow, but I'm having some problems. My quick statement says I owe 45 (which is correct), but when I go into E-bill to pay, it says I owe 6000+ which is the amount my quick statement said last week before my aid kicked in. I'm not sure if that's just because it's the weekend, so they haven't updated it, or if something else is wrong. Can anyone help explain to me what's going on? What's the penalty for paying the bill a few days late? Thanks!

You only owe the amount shown on the quick statement. The ebill is just a snapshot of your account on a certain day. Think of it as a paper bill. The quick statement is the most up to date and accurate bill. This is updated as monies are received. Hope this helps.

Right, but when I go on to the e-bill site to pay, it will only let me pay that 6000+ amount, and not 45…so I’m not sure what to do. I’m kind of just hoping it will change on Monday…

That’s weird. I saw on some other thread that someone was able to just pay $45 but I don’t remember which one!

Wait. I found it. Here it is… Does this help?

When you do an electronic payment from a bank account, the method you get to when you want to pay your bill from e-bill, it gives you the choice to enter your own chosen amount to pay.

Oh ok, thank you!

I guess I’ll pay 45 now, and check to see if anything changes come Monday.

It will change to zero owed (on quick statement, the current view). The ebill won’t change. Ever. For the rest of your time at Cal, you can pull up the Aug 15 ebill and see the same $6,000 listed as due. The Sep 15 ebill will show your payment, but ebill, in spite of the name that implies electronic and current, is more like a 1960 era computer system putting out a once per month paper statement.

Rider, I think you need to start a thread saying just that! I think a lot of people are confused about this, and I can’t tell you how many times I have answered that question. I know you have answered it also. I feel like we need a public service announcement. haha

The right solution would be a locked and pinned thread that is always on the first screen and only contains the information, however it is just too difficult to get that done. A wiki or other website linked from here would also do the job.

If everyone searched first before posting their questions, it wouldn’t be too bad, but . . .

That is also why the current pinned threads don’t work, as it requires people to read through perhaps 94 screens of postings.
