<p>atomom, I am so pleased to read about the positive outcome that you helped bring about. It's nice to see a former homeschooling mom continue to advocate for homeschoolers. My dh was pleased when I chose to stay involved after our children entered college, in part because he hopes that if our kids decide to homeschool their own children one day they will encounter far fewer obstacles.</p>
<p>Watch out - the University of California system is saying that home or private school classes using certain Christian textbooks will not be recognized. How absurd! I'm sure if they just required the kids to pass an SAT II, ACT, CLEP or AP test, they would find that their position is illogical and bigoted...</p>
<p>I'm still a homeschooler. My 1st of 7 kids is graduating this year. I hope my other kids will have a chance at scholarships. </p>
<p>Is this true about CA? It does sound absurd. I don't see why the CA state U. system would care which (if any!) textbooks students use, as long as they have the knowledge/test scores. Do public schools have to list textbooks used on their transcripts? I don't see how a requirement like this could pass legal challenges. What about unschoolers who use no textbooks?</p>
