Discrimination Against Muslims?

Seriously, your going to whine about this when you answered your own question. Stop whining, your a senior.

It is in the Brandeis forum, as well as the Carnegie Mellon University, Johns Hopkins University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, University of Chicago, and Princeton University forums…

it’s a crapshoot, there’s no reasonable explanation…it just happened. sorry, maybe april is not your lucky month.

anyway, congrats on Brandeis

Brandeis is known for its diversity of ideas and avid pursuit of global perspective (very similar to Tufts in that sense). So, no, I don’t think it was descrimination.

My daughter didn’t face discrimination. She is Muslim and clearly mentioned it in her essays. She was accepted at Tufts and Brandeis, and Brandeis invited her to be a Lerman-Neubauer Fellow, which is only offered to about 15 incoming freshman- we thought they offered it to her because she is a Muslim and would add diversity.
However she won’t be attending either as she chose another school over those two.

Her (Muslim) friend from the next town over was also accepted at Brandeis.

Well that sucks. College decisions have a large randomness factor. She should just stop thinking about it. If she got into Princeton, Dartmouth, UChicago, etc, I dont know why she feels the need to nitpick Brandeis. This looks like an ego issue. Maybe she should have been rejected everywhere else too…

I know this is an old thread but I am bumping it so students in the next application cycle may see it – Brandeis is NOT a discriminatory institution. I was accepted with lower stats than OP and I wrote my essay about growing up in a Muslim household and I was accepted. Please do not refrain from applying to Brandeis because you fear that Brandeis will discriminate against you - Brandeis is an incredibly open and diverse community, full of all cultures, including Middle Eastern/Arab.
