Discussion: KRAFT MAC(ARONI) AND CHEESE

Loved the stuff, and still do though I don’t eat it anymore. Ate copious amounts while pregnant and my kids loved it as well. In fact, we had “Mac and cheese Mondays” when they were young (but old enough to be in school). Kraft mac and cheese, applesauce and graham crackers. Every. Single. Monday. Everyone was happy and it started off our week on the right foot. Such fond memories.

It was only around for a short time - seems like it was introduced in 2011 and they discontinued it the end of 2015. My daughter and I loved it.

For the Italian one pictured, I would add extra shredded mozzarella before baking. There was a four cheese one, where I would add extra shredded cheddar before baking. This was following the package instructions. I remember the process was more like real mac and cheese where you created a rue with the cheese mixture they provided.

When our kids were little D preferred Kraft to homemade mac n’ cheese. That was true of other foods, too. I still keep some blue boxes on hand, even though half end up going to various food collections. It’s come in handy when H has been away and I haven’t felt like cooking.

This week GD was asked if she liked my homemade “mac n’ cheese” and she said no, I eat Nana’s MACARONI cheese. I guess the Kraft name change would not go over well with her.

I like to add extra fresh cheese to my boxed Mac and cheese …. Like mozzarella, provolone, pepper jack, etc.

Perhaps due to this thread we opted to pull out an ancient box of mac/cheese as a side dish with leftover chicken sausage. (LOL - I could have posted this as a Win in the declutter thread or a loss in the Healthy Food thread.)
