We havnt even attended a lecture yet, what would we do? Meet the GSI?

Most of the time they are canceled, but I remember my Math 53 had discussion before the first lecture and my GSI had a head start, so attend them just to be sure.

I have a different question about the first day of class. If I signed up for a class and do not attend the first few days, would I get dropped? The reason why I am not attending this class is because I am trying to get into another class during the same time slot that I am waitlisted for. I would rather take the waitlisted class than the one I am enrolled in. So how many days can I skip before I get dropped?

If it’s Physics 7A, you must attend every one of them for the first 2 weeks. Most other classes don’t even record your attendance.

Email the GSI before you start class. I’ve shown up to the first discussion without needing to way too many times, and you don’t want to waste your precious mornings =P For some classes you will need to go, and for others, you won’t. It depends on the class.

You should attend discussion sections on their first days if you don’t want to be dropped. If you email the GSI, they might understand your situation and keep you on the list, but if you don’t take any action, there’s a chance you might get dropped, especially with the classes with big waitlists.

The problem is, you don’t know who is your GSI until your first day lol…
