I have two of these, one for Bio 311C and Calc 408 N. Does it honestly help going to these? Are they really that important? I feel like they're a waste of time (especially calculus) because I learn better on my own, just working the problems. I know some teachers grade on attendance, but my teachers didn't say anything about having to attend these sessions.

They are there to help you learn. It’ll help to keep you on track with the class and recognize what the key points are. If attendance isn’t recorded and you don’t feel like this is valuable to you, then you don’t have to go. Even if you “could” use that hour more efficiently, however, there’s a good chance you’re not actually going to.

Maybe this isn’t true for your classes, but quizzes are usually administered during my recitation sections. Either way, I recommend that you attend because you never know what you might learn.
