Discussion Thread for Hopeful/Accepted Class of 2014rs...Why Vandy?

Hey all!

Hope you all are excited to find out about Vandy and other college acceptances! (crosses fingers)

I sent my app in awhile back, but just sent in Chancellor's and Cornellius' merit scholarship applications.

So why do you like Vanderbilt? Top choice? Whats your intended major.

I want to go to Vandy because of Nashville mostly. But I also like the Greek system and the Commons system. I would say Vandy is in my top 3, and I want to study Film, which is an odd major for this fine institution but I am excited for the opportunity to study at a place with such academic opportunity and the surrounding academic environment.

Hey!
I was accepted to Vandy recently through ED1 at CAS. I’m really excited!
I guess there are 3 main reasons I chose Vandy:

 1. Peabody. Although I didn’t apply to that college specifically-I want to major in English-I also plan on taking Education courses there so I can work toward my career goal as a professor:)

Location: It’s Nashville! helloo Music City! haha… I haven’t really been able to explore, but from what I have seen and heard, it seems great. Doesn’t hurt that Vandy is 6 hrs away from my home-the perfect distance!

Campus: Vandy’s campus is so peaceful, naturalistic, beautiful, and quaint. When I was there for the diverseVU tour, I could deftinately see myself there. Not too big or too small and just lovely in general.

So…sorry for the long post but maybe you can tell how happy I am to be Vandy-bound!!

Congrats on the acceptance Wuthering! You will love it here :)

Thank you! I’m assuming you’re a student there now. Can you give some tips about life there and your experience at Vandy?

wuthering, thats really exciting! thanks for those exciting reasons!

I am wondering still about what Greek Life is really like, not specifically for Vandy, but in general. Also, I can’t wait to see the beautiful campus if I get in!!

I love the colors too :D

I haven’t been able to visit yet (financial reasons) but from the website and my mom’s co-worker, an alum, I think if I get in I would really love it there. Vandy is tied with another great school as my first choice.

I initially looked at V because it meets full demonstrated need, but fell in love because it’s Nashville.

Honestly… I got back significantly higher SAT scores about a month ago and decided to apply to Vandy simply because it was a reach that had no extra supplement requirements…

I’m expecting to get rejected :(

I love Vandy because…

-Nashville is a kick ass city - the nightlife, the cleanliness as compared to NYC, the nice people.
-The Commons are amazing.
-The campus is absolutely stunning.
-Its engineering program is top notch and 30% of engineers are female (like me).
-It’s obviously top notch academically.
-The party scene is sick.
-Greek life there is awesome
-The weather!!!
-The general atmosphere and feeling when you’re on campus is simply…wonderful.

if i somehow get into vandy, im going for sure. it sounds like the quintessential college experience.

Hey I also got accepted ED1 recently to the College of Arts and Science. I’m so excited. I picked it for some of the same reasons above.
-Nashville is awesome. It’s only 4 hours away from my home. Far enough to get away but not too far.
-Beautiful campus, commons are the best freshman housing I’ve seen, and the whole community sense about the campus is really appealing.
-The Greek Life seems great, the whole party hard study hard attitude.
-Good rep, how awesome will it be to say I am a Vandy Grad?!
so, yeah I’m really excited and can’t wait to get there and meet my fellow dore’s!!
