“…the music of Mozart is of such purity and beauty that one feels he merely found itthat it has always existed as part of the inner beauty of the universe waiting to be revealed.” (Albert Einstein)

I love this image of the music being “found”, being a natural part of the universe. Some of the melodies are so simple, so fragile, that the slightest mishandling would smudge it - like the chalky wing of a butterfly.

I have several favorite quotes

“The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up.” -Paul Valery
Its so true. You can dream all you want but if you don’t take action then thats all your dreams will ever be.

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

“Take calculated risks. Thats quite different from being rash.”

and

“Our greatest glory consists not in never failing, but in rising every time we fall.”

also Patrick Henry’s, “I smell a rat!”

“不经历风雨,怎能见彩虹”

“If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.”

When I was young I LOVED rainbows, I loved drawing them, I liked anything with rainbow patterns =). But I never saw a REAL rainbow (growing up in Hong Kong and Beijing). The one time I DID see an actual rainbow (and it was a double rainbow!) was when I went to Yellowstone, and it was right after we drove through a giant storm cloud (black skies and hail thundering on the rooftop for a few minutes). Then I realized how true this quote was. When I was young, i never really went through anything difficult. But when I did (went to a Chinese public school for two years… yes, that was difficult for me!), I gained so much from it and felt so happy and successful! But now I’m becoming lazy again, so I need to go to boarding school and go through another rainstorm =)

“Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice”. Barry Goldwater.

Selfexplanatory.

“He not busy being born is busy dying.”
— Bob Dylan

“You always miss the shot you don’t take.”

Use this with my Ds everytime they worry whether they will succeed at something new!
