Yeah, got into MIT, not too worried about Harvard
(not that I think I’ll get in, just that I wouldn’t go either way). More about Princeton/Yale.

^ I kind of feel the same.

For some reason, I always felt that it was harder to get into Yale - they were “choosier” somehow was my gut feeling.

My attitude to Harvard is very - “hmm. ok. Come what may, because I’ve already gotten into a school that I previously only dreamt of!”

Quite chilled about the whole thing really.

I dunno, I’m planning on double in math/physics and Harvard’s math dept. is really good from everything I’ve heard. I’d really like to have that option in addition to MIT/Caltech.

Who else applied for math?

Just wondering, what’s the chances of a waitlist?

Computer Science major here.

@ Torcher: Less than getting admitted. And the chances of getting pulled off the wait list are even less, if you can imagine that.

how many are waitlisted and how many are accepted from that waitlist?

60? That’s a lot more than what I’d have expected. I don’t know why I was thinking so low.

Yeah didn’t the website say they only admitted 2,000 or so?

If their yield this year is like what its been in the past couple of years, around 75, that seems like 2,000 is a bit small if they want a class of 1600 (I think I remember reading they wanted 1600 to enroll).

Either way, getting waitlisted is an achievement in itself ( :
Even getting a rejection letter means that you gave it your best, gave it a shot - and that totally means something.

Does anyone know the stats on how many are WL’d?

I’m another person accepted by MIT but waiting on Harvard. I, like Anon93, didn’t really care either way until a few days ago. Now I’m not sure if I care. But I always cared about Yale.

I know two people currently at Harvard. One was waitlisted. She was a TASP alumna, val, Chinese-Jewish Hungarian with a 2280 SAT, and compelling stories in her ECs. Injuries prevented her from continuing dance, and her commitment to community service was like nothing I’ve ever seen. And she was not hype-y about college. Honestly, she’s a really cool person. I once saved a bird with her.
I didn’t memorize her stats or anything creepy like that. US News did a “special” about my school one year, since it’s always in the top 100, and they did a profile on her.

Harvard admitted 2110 applicants so it has an acceptance rate of 6.9% this year. Not to be immature…but that kinda makes me chuckle ;).

http://thechoice.blogs.nytimes.com/2010-admissions-tally/

^^WOW. That is frightening. 28,379 rejected :'(

Harvard’s admission rate will go up in the summer, with applicants getting in off the wait list and the Z-list. Wait until September for the final number for the admission rate.

@Browniebaker: What’s the Z-list?

What is the Z list

So the acceptance rate for the class of 2015 will be even lower?

About the Z-list:

@Handala92: It’s awesome. Just imagine–25k+ people getting the largest batch of rejection letters EVER!
Can’t wait to be a part of that historic-ness. :)

On a side note, does anyone else enjoy going to cnn.com and reading the unintelligent comments that some people leave on some of the articles? Honestly, they just make my day :).

I prefer reading the NYT comments because they’re more cogent. or watching Glenn Beck clips online. Those are hilarious.

And I read this and lol’d. Read it, guys. Great fun.

@motion12345: I love being one of those unintelligent posters. That’s even greater fun. :)
