Have you ever disputed a grade?

I feel like I was unfairly graded on my essay connecting evolution, genetics, and molecular biology. My teacher said "you did not convince me that you understood the connection of the main themes", but I did. I did not see the connection the way he saw it, which was through phenotypes. I, instead, argued that evolution was the overall change of nucleotide sequences.
I think that he graded my essay because I did not go along with his idea of the connection. I still was able to connect the themes, but in a different way.

How can I dispute my grade?

Well, what did you score exactly? If you got a 87 or something and wanted an A, I don’t see the point of disputing becuase your teacher was offering you a fair grade to begin with. However, if you failed, I would ask him if you could offer clarification verbally over what you were trying to convey in the essay for him to consider regrading it.

Plus another thing to consider is if this one grade is going to affect your overall grade in the class. If it only affected your overall grade a little, don’t waste your time or your instructors.

Got an 81. Should’ve gotten an 89 at the least.
And yes this will affect my grade. Finals are coming up and this was our last assessment. If I had an A on it, my average would be a B+/A-, but this drags me into the B range.

is there anyway you can still get an A in the class depeding on how you score on the finals?

This is why you should always write papers with respect to what your teacher believes.
