Disqualified for academic skills defect

I recently recieved my nomination from Phil Hare and have been avid in my application towards KP. I was told that since I come from Illinois as long as I met the minimum scholastic requirments and got a nomination. Illinois hasn't filled their quota in nine years. Today, I found out that I have been disqualified medically for Academic Skills Defect. I have ADHD and take Concerta for it. Does anybody know if any applicants have gotten waivers for this?

There is another forum where there is a medical Corpsman who prior to retiring worked at DodMerb. He's very helpful with questions of this nature.

Good luck!

Even better, the Deputy Director of DODMERB, Lary Mullen, is an everyday regular contributor there on the DODMERB forum section.

If you send Larry an email with your full name and last 4 digits of your SS#, he WILL answer within 24 hours, and he is the only person who can correctly answer your question.

Thank you, I'm sure that will help. If I do get the waiver, and get the minimum 24 on math and 23 composite ACT, because I am from Illinois and the slots are never filled, is there a good chance I'll get appointed?

Waivers for ADHD may require good academic progress for one year without the use of medication. In other words, to request a waiver in September of 2008, it's likely you would have to show good grades without Concerta since September of 2007. All standardized testing (ACT, SAT) must be completed and scores reported without accommodations or use of medication.
